It's that time of year again for our ALS walk.
The date of Mike’s walk is Saturday, September 25th, at Fort Southwest Point Pavilion and Track. The address is 1221 S. Kentucky Street, Kingston, TN, 37763. We will gather around 9:30 - 9:45am and start the walk at 10:00am and make one round around the track. This is the same location as last year.
Mike has experienced many changes this past year. He has lost all use of his arms so therefore he had to relinquish the remote control(s). Feeding and all meds are entirely through the feeding tube. He sleeps in his power wheelchair; this wheelchair is driven with a joy stick under his right foot. Mike rolls the chair to the bedroom and walks the few feet to the bathroom and then walks back to his chair. We are thankful for this little bit of mobility. Verbal communication is 99 percent gone and this is the hardest thing of all for us. We still go to church every Sunday, Deacon's meeting, rebuild meeting, pretty much anywhere he wants to go.
Our support system is beyond imagination. We want for nothing. All of you take care of our needs. This disease is horrendous; what would it be like with no help from friends and family.
We have just found out our family will be “2021 Knoxville Walk to Defeat ALS Walk Family”. ALS will be highlighting five families across the State of Tennessee to share their story and bring awareness about ALS. You all know how Mike loves to share his story.
Psalms 73:26 – My flesh and heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

P. S. Once again, Mike will leave it up to you whether you wear a mask or not. Do not be afraid to come up to Mike and say hello. He would love it if you do. You will not be able to understand him but don't let that scare you. He will wave at you with his foot.
